FAQs

I have just received my first wood wick candle. How should I burn it?

First of all, congratulations! Wood wick candles can take a bit more perseverance than a cotton wick but they create a much more atmospheric burn.

When you have received your candle, your first burn is the most important. Aim to burn for at least 4 hours on the first use or until your wax has melted to the edge of the jar. This will help to ensure you get an even burn and make the most out of your candle. If your wick burns out on the first use, ensure you relight it until you have created a full burn pool.

It's also important to make sure you trim your wick in between uses. You can usually do this by simply snapping off the charred wick until it is between 1-3mm in length. This helps to ensure your flame stays at a safe height and your wax burns evenly.

Where are your candles made?

All of our candles and wax melts are hand poured in small batches from our home in Lincoln, England. We pride ourselves on working with these small batches to ensure consistent quality and love goes into every product.

Are your products vegan friendly?

All of our products are vegan as well as being cruelty free. We use 100% soy wax which has no animal derivatives and our fragrance is supplied from a company who uses vegan formulas that are not tested on animals.

How are you environmentally friendly as a business?

When setting up Sloom & Co one of our core beliefs was that our business should be as sustainable as possible. Along with ensuring our products are ethically made, we also wanted to avoid the big issue of plastic within our products. That is why all products are shipped in recyclable or biodegradable materials. From our shipping boxes down to the wax melt bags, we pride ourselves on having plastic-free packaging and aim to maintain this for as long as we are in business.

We hope that you will find ways to reuse any of the materials your item is packed in, but if not everything is recyclable.
